I would never have predicted that during election week 2016 I would see 2 of what may well turn out to be on my 10 Best SciFi Movies of All Time list!

I knew I wanted to see Doctor Strange on the really big screen, for I expected it to have great visuals. It did. Spectacular, lovely, and appropriate. I had not expected a screenplay nearly so well written and directed with so much wit and charm. I expected Benedict Cumberbatch to be more than competent, and actually he turns in one of his best and most
charming performances. And he is surrounded by other actors of great past and present accomplishment. Loved Tilda Swinton as an ancient Celtic mystic. 2001 meets Inception. Still some juice in the superhero genre.

Yesterday at the Actor’s Charitable Theater production of Stephen Sondheim/Jerome Weidman musical “Assassins” in Tuscaloosa I ended up with a whole basket of sunbeams. What a wonderful show! That I was expecting. What I didn’t expect was the quality of the production at all levels.
