My previous post showed the old store as it looked after the vehicle plowed into it last Saturday. What a difference a week makes! Now the outside of the store looks better than it has looked in years. So far supplies (including the vinyl siding) and labor remain under $900, well below what my deductible would have been if I had filed an insurance claim. |
The only shelf space I will have lost is that one range in the middle. but I don't need it. I decided to simply cover the 2 small windows on that side with the siding. Mid-afternoon county sheriff Kenneth Ellis and probate judge Arthur Crawford stopped by to discuss what had happened. Friends had urged me to report, and just this morning I had mailed a letter to Sheriff Ellis telling him about the incident. I'm impressed that the two men stopped by before getting my letter. Ellis was particularly interested to hear that no one had acknowledged the accident and also that there was no sign of broken glass or the like at the scene (we assume somebody had cleaned that up right after the crash). I'm pleased with progress, but I'd just as soon the whole thing hadn't happened! |
